Jiva and Lavania

Jiva and Lavania's solemnisation took place at the Botanical Gardens, at the famous pavillon (so famous that I forgot the name!!! You can call it the white house if you like). A beautiful morning it was.

Looks like fairytale land right?

The ceremony was slated to commence at 1030am, hence Jiva's & Lavania's friends and relatives started to gather around the pavillon at arond10am. Too bad the park couldn't allow garden chairs for the benefit of the guests. And we were all sweaty wet by then coz we arrived an hr earlier and ran around the park to gather shots.
After Jiva, the ring boy marched down the walk path with Jiva's lovely doggy. Really cute!

Our lovely bride finally appeared with her dad...

Despite the heat of the late morning, Lavania was all smiles thru out the solemnisation. They came a long way in their relationship.

Seldom get to see the groom throw flowers, or should I say corsage? The guys are really a sporting bunch!

Filming Ashley Isham's fashion catwalk at Audi Fashion week

Paulgohphotography and us had the chance to cover Ashley Isham's fashion catwalk for Styleweddings 2 weeks ago. It was our first time shooting the fashion runway.

Photo from Stylewedding's website

The optimum setup would have been 3 cameras (like the way we shoot church weddings!), but due to limitations imposed by the organizer on Styleweddings, only 1 videographer was allowed. Got to run fast and make do lor.... Definitely no more crane and dolly shots during the catwalk, only the boring tripod shots). And again, I shot interviews without the use of on-camera lights!

Anyway, enjoy the show here . (Scroll to the bottom of their page for the videos)

Che Wei & Jaslyn Wedding

Jaslyn was one of the jie meis at Kwee Guan and Junyi's wedding which we covered last year. We were very much surprised when she engaged our service without any meet up! I guess she had total faith in us. And course, we put in our best!

Che Wei, the groom, got his younger bro, Che Siong, to sneak into Jaslyn's house just as we were getting Jaslyn's parents to veil her up. Che Wei certainly know how things were sequentially executed on a wedding day! Hence Che Xiong managed to throw Che Wei Jaslyn's house keys from inside! It was a whole lot of fun!

The outdoor shoot we had was under the hot sun of 1130am. We couldn't do it any earlier due to rain. By then, Jaslyn was already in her Kua instead of her wedding gown. I think it made her cooler that way. I couldn't explain why, but Bernard (from Ave 8) and I worked seamlessly together that day. He could get his shots and I could get mine easily -- all without asking Che Wei and Jaslyn to do poses. It was over before the couple knew it. Perhaps our combined 13 yrs of experience helped?

Jaslyn had given us the creative freedom to shoot specifically to produce the same-day-edit highlights that was to be screened during the dinner. This gave us more time to set up for the perfect shots that we want, and not be restrained by the need to ensure continuity of scenes.

Layered shot. A mirror reflection shot with the matching flowers in the foregrd and the gown hanging in the backgrd.

Closeup shot with the application of a fill light (to prevent the usual dark eye rings) as the sun was still not up yet!

Yeah.. the sun finally shined through the windows! See how dimensional this scene was with that beautiful glimmer along the edges of Jaslyn's sharp features and the right shadows in the right places.

A reactionary shot.

All natural. No poses for this photo/video shoot. Only real activities. It was literally a walk in the park on a wedding day!

And yes, all the kissing shots that we film are real french kisses. Very sensual and real. We do not allow couples to merely put their lips together because they'll look like characters from the wax museum...

Tea Break!

We haven't really got a breather since ..... I can't remember when. We are always on the go, working on this project, that project. We seems to have disappeared from our blog for the whole month of April. Lucky that we have remained sane still at the end of the day.

Let's talk about other stuff away from weddings...

We need a break.

And we had a tea break at Teadot. We have quite a unique experience at this cafe at Illuma. It serves tea rather than the usual coffee. We hardly drink coffee and thus it's quite a good surprise that coffee is not the star on the menu. And it's not our usual cup of tea.

What caught our attention was the decor. The colour combination used is unique - cyan and bronze. Taking a second look, the functional bronze piping is stylishly-designed and stands out like a unique art piece. Ha! And also, an innovative human-tall menu. No more neckstrains when ordering drinks.

My favorites - Little Red Fuji and Angel's Breath. Sweet angelic names for the tea. And very refreshing tastes! My favourite cake - Chocolate Macadamia.

We sat in a corner, enjoying our tea. We also saw hippy youngsters walking passed. What a nice tea break!

HD production on Blu-ray discs!

We've finally produced our first-ever wedding cinematography album on Blu-ray discs! Mark & Angela is the first couple for whom we shot everything in HDV, edit in HDV and produced both DVD and Blu-ray albums!

Given the high clarity of the Blu-ray, and prices of Blu-ray players singing to the tune of $300, how we wish we can offer Blu-ray albums for every couple.

Our Blu-ray discs are also full-hub printable and are specially purchased from Tokyo Akihabara! They are not available in SG....

Realistically speaking, production time is several times longer if Blu-ray discs are the final deliverables. When we factor in the time cost in post-production, we have to charge our couples at premium prices (which is often not welcomed). We guess for now, our Blu-ray albums will only go to couples who truly understand that Blu-ray is the inevitable.
